ASKING & GIVING SUGGESTION AND OFFERING TO DO SOMETHING
Hello everyone, My name is Frizt Reynara. I will explains about asking & giving suggestions and offering to do something.
Asking suggestion is a way for someone to ask for device in english when they have a problem.
for example :
- I have a problem. I need your advice.
- What do you suggest?
- Do you have any suggestions?
- What should I do?
- If you were me, what would you do?
- What’s your advice?
- Please tell me what to do.
- What tought I to do?
Giving Suggestion is a way for someone to give advice to others by using english.
for example :
- I would like to suggest you that …
- It’s better for you to …
- My advice is …
- My suggestion is …
- You should + verb 1
- If I were you, I would …
- You had better + verb 1
- Why don’t you + verb 1 … ?
- How about + verb-ing …?
- I think you should …
- I advise you to …
- Try to …
- You tought to + verb 1
Accepting the suggestion :
- That’s good idea. I will do it.
- I’ll try. Thank you.
- Sure, I can do it.
- Yeah, you’re right.
- Why didn’t I think of that?
- That’s the best one, I’ll try that.
Refusing the suggestion :
- I can’t do that.
- I’m afraid I can’t.
- Could you give me another way?
- I think it can’t solve my problem.
- I’m not sure.
- How about other suggestions?
- I don’t think I can.
Giving offer
some examples of expressions giving offers that we can use are as follows :
- Can/may I help you?
- What can I do for you?
- Do you want me to join us?
- Would you like me to ….
- Let me …
- I’ll …. if you ‘d like
- I’ll be happy to ….. if you ‘d like
- I’d be glad to ……. if you ‘d like

Accepting an offer :
- Yes, please
- Yes, of course
- Of cours I can
- That’s very kind of you
- I appreciated that
- That would be marvelous

Refusing an offer:
- That’s very kind of you but I can do it myself. Thanks’ anyway
- I appreciate that but I can do it myself

- I’m sorry …..
- I’m sorry I can’t. I have to …

Example dialogue about suggestion :
Carlos : Im looking for my phone, i just lost it
Rey : Really? where did you lose it?Carlos : Maybe in the class
Rey : You should be more carefull where did you put your phone
Carlos : Yeah, this is my fault
Rey : Dont worry Carlos, you will find your phone soon
Carlos : Thanks Rey, do you have any suggestion for me?
Rey : If i may suggest, you should go back to class and look for it more detail
Carlos : Thanks for your suggestion
Rey : yo're welcome
Conclution :
from this dialogue above which is an expression of suggestion, that is :
- you should be more carefull where did you put your phone (giving suggestion)
- do you have any suggestion for me? (asking for suggestion)
- if i may suggest, you should go back to class and look it for more detail (giving suggestion)

Carlos : That's okay dude, let me help you. you can borrow my pen
